Wild Times

There are many unique experiences along this journey.  However, nothing has compared with being awakened by the sounds of lions roaring in the early morning.  We will have stayed at Lion Country Safari KOA for over two weeks and I don’t think hearing those amazing creatures each morning could ever get old.

But it isn’t simply hearing the lions each morning that has made this stay so enjoyable. We have already been to the park three times and hope for one more visit before we move on.
You know that feeling after a day at an amusement park?  You are tired, happy but with a nagging feeling that you were just completely ripped off.  Not at Lion Country Safari.  Our day started with a drive through the wildlife preserve.  We headed over early hoping to catch a glimpse of a few animals before the mid day heat.  But we got more than a mere glimpse.  The animals were all around, grazing, feeding, meandering-just doing their wild animal thing. We even were lucky enough to drive by a rhinoceros and her baby (making sure we didn’t drive BETWEEN the rhinoceros and her baby). We also got a good view of the lions that we hear each and every morning.  We truly got our money’s worth simply during the drive.
After the 1 hour+ drive through the animal preserve we then went into the amusement park.  This park definitely caters to the toddler age visitor-so we were happy.  Especially running through the splash park during on such a hot day.  But even those without little ones can still enjoy feeding the giraffes, getting up close and personal with an alligator and seeing a huge tortoise in action.
We even enjoyed a lunch for three under $20!
